Cooper's Hawk. Two parents and three offspring were gathered in an oak tree by the church. I'm grateful for the dense canopy over Safety Harbor. It provides habitat for so many wild things.

Sweetgrass baskets come from a tradition handed down from 17th century West African slaves in South Carolina. Dried sweetgrass is bundled together and coiled in circles, then thin strands of palmetto fronds hold the piece in place.

The Ruddy Turnstone is a small sandpiper with the colors of a calico cat. It is named for its ability to insert its bill under stones and shells to flip them over to find food underneath.
